Meeting Location

Meetings are held every second and fourth Tuesday evening of the month (excluding statutory holidays, school events, etc.) in the Drama Room at Port Moody Senior Secondary School, 300 Albert Street, Port Moody, BC.  Meetings start at 7:30 PM sharp.  (See map for parking and entrance below)

Guests are always welcome to visit for any meeting to meet us and find out what we are all about.  Click on “HOW TO JOIN” above for more information.

September 11 – Registration. Welcome and Executive introductions. Discussion about what is coming up this fall, TCPC mentors, and summer assignment images.

September 25 – Our own Doug Moore will talk about how to critique images. This will be followed by a member image critique.

October 9 – Guest speaker Rick Hulbert, will talk about architectural photography. His presentation “Urban Architectural Photography … Inside and Out” promises to be both educational and entertaining.

October 23 – Guest speaker Heidi Benefiel from Opus Coquitlam will be here to talk about printing and framing.  Voting and selection of images to represent the TCPC in the LGCC Celebration of Nature 2018 competition.

November 13 – Mentoring evening. We will set up stations run by some of our mentors on topics such as flash, multiple exposure, extension tubes, and filters.

November 27 – Guest speaker Greg Girard will speak about his time as a Nat. Geo. Photographer, his time in Asia, and his photos of Vancouver.

December 11 – Christmas social and pot-luck, member images

January 8 – Guest speaker Dennis Ducklow: The art of creating double exposures.  Members images from the “Joy” assignment

January 22 – Guest speaker Ian MacDonald: Finding Creativity – What PTSD Taught Me About Photography.  Voting for North Shore Photo Challenge images.

February 12This evening features a talk on how to capture Long Exposures with Elizabeth. She will discuss what types of filters to use, how to calculate exposure times, and some of the creative aspects to this type of “in the moment” photography. In addition, we will be selecting our images for the Crescent Beach Black and White Challenge, and learning how to inexpensively mat prints.  Cancelled due to snow.

February 26 – Join our guest speaker, Dave Hutchison as he guides us through an introduction to “Breaking the Four Barriers for Creativity” along his journey to becoming a full-time nature photographer. Dave is an award-winning photographer and a nationally accredited PPOC member living in Sidney, BC on Vancouver Island.  In addition, we will be selecting our images for the Crescent Beach Black and White Challenge, and learning how to inexpensively mat prints.

March 12 – Bring your camera for a night of Light Painting and Water Drops on Disks

March 26 – Spring Break, no meeting.

April 9 – Clive will show us how to Copy 35mm Slides and Grant will go In Depth with Lightroom

April 23Simplicity-In-Seeing with guest and visual poet, Olaf Sztaba.

May 14Astro and Wildlife Photography with guest Christian Sasse
