DESCRIPTION:Winter home of Snow geese. There are 192 regular bird species on site and 106 casual or accidental visiting bird species. Sanctuary is protected by the Government of Canada\, providing a safe refuge of migratory birds. On site there are bird blinds\, viewing platforms and a viewing tower.\n– All visitors require reservations for parking. Book online up to 3 days ahead. Reserve for morning parking 9:00 – 11:00 am or afternoon parking 1:00 – 3:00pm.\n– Admission fees are paid at gift shop.\nAdults – $8 Seniors 65+ – $6\nDrop in birding talk/tour starts at 10:00am on Sundays\, meeting at gift shop. The tour can last to 12:30pm\, with casual drop in or out throughout tour.\nBird sanctuary opens at 9:00am. Meet at 9:45 – 10:00am at gift shop.\nI am planning on going on birding walk at 10. Based in Ucluelet after spending many years in Whistler\, David’s expertise lies in capturing the beauty of the natural world\, from majestic mountain ranges to ethereal northern lights. His passion for time-lapse photography adds a dynamic element to his work\, making his presentations both visually stunning and educational.\nIn this session\, David will showcase still images\, time-lapse videos\, and his unique approach to capturing last light (around sunset) from a helicopter. He may also premiere a new time-lapse short film of the October 10th northern lights from Tofino. Check out his previous work\, such as the May 10th northern lights film\, here.\nIf time permits\, David will share his techniques and stories from shooting powerful storms on the west coast of Vancouver Island.

With a background in geology and a deep connection to the landscapes she photographs\, Kas brings a thoughtful and artistic perspective to her craft.\nIn her presentation\, Kas will explore “Making Meaningful Photographs\,” a thought-provoking session that delves into the storytelling aspect of photography.
