Based in Ucluelet after spending many years in Whistler\, David’s expertise lies in capturing the beauty of the natural world\, from majestic mountain ranges to ethereal northern lights. His passion for time-lapse photography adds a dynamic element to his work\, making his presentations both visually stunning and educational.\nIn this session\, David will showcase still images\, time-lapse videos\, and his unique approach to capturing last light (around sunset) from a helicopter. He may also premiere a new time-lapse short film of the October 10th northern lights from Tofino. DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to announce that Steve Kazemir will be leading a special presentation focused on creating composites in Photoshop during our upcoming club meeting. This is a fantastic opportunity to see how multiple images can be artfully combined into a single\, cohesive piece using advanced editing techniques. \nTo make the session as engaging and personalized as possible\, Steve is inviting members to submit photos that they would like him to use as examples during the demonstration. These images will serve as the foundation for the composites he’ll build\, offering valuable insights into his creative process and technical approach. \n📅 Submission Deadline: To ensure he has ample time to prepare\, please send your photos no later than October 7th. The earlier you can submit\, the better—it gives Steve more flexibility to select and plan around the images. \n💬 Got Photoshop Questions? In addition to working on your submitted photos\, Steve is happy to address any Photoshop-related questions you might have. DESCRIPTION:Join Shane Gross\, professional marine conservation photojournalist and overall winner of the 2024 Wildlife Photographer of the Year\, as he shares how to harness the power of photography for conservation impact. From his beginnings in southern Saskatchewan to a decade in The Bahamas and now on Vancouver Island\, Shane will take us beneath the waves to explore photography\, storytelling\, ethics\, post-processing\, and building a career in conservation photography. With stories of both successes and failures in the field\, Shane will reveal how images can protect wild places\, reach new audiences\, and drive real change. \nBIO \nShane Gross is an award-winning marine conservation photojournalist dedicated to using his images to protect ocean life and ecosystems. His work has been widely published and recognized internationally\, highlighted by winning the Adult Grand Title of the 60th NHM Wildlife Photographer of the Year in 2024. Through his photography and storytelling\, Shane bridges art and science to raise awareness of fragile underwater worlds and the urgent need for conservation. \nThis is a BC – Yukon Speaker Series event for club members only.
