Join Shane Gross, professional marine conservation photojournalist and overall winner of the 2024 Wildlife Photographer of the Year, as he shares how to harness the power of photography for conservation impact. From his beginnings in southern Saskatchewan to a decade in The Bahamas and now on Vancouver Island, Shane will take us beneath the waves to explore photography, storytelling, ethics, post-processing, and building a career in conservation photography. With stories of both successes and failures in the field, Shane will reveal how images can protect wild places, reach new audiences, and drive real change.

Shane Gross is an award-winning marine conservation photojournalist dedicated to using his images to protect ocean life and ecosystems. His work has been widely published and recognized internationally, highlighted by winning the Adult Grand Title of the 60th NHM Wildlife Photographer of the Year in 2024. Through his photography and storytelling, Shane bridges art and science to raise awareness of fragile underwater worlds and the urgent need for conservation.
