Elizabeth Gray: American nature photographer Rob Sheppard said, “Good black and white photography is not about the removal of colour!” I could not agree more. Unfortunately, many photographers try unsuccessfully to rescue mediocre images by converting them to black and white.

In this presentation, we will discuss ways to recognize what subjects and scenes work well when shot in black and white and why you would deliberately choose to shoot in black and white over colour. We will talk about what makes strong monochrome photos and how to train your brain to see in black and white. With these skills, you will be able to create much stronger and more compelling monochrome photographs.
